Ubisoft has released its financial results for the Holiday quarter which ended December 31, 2012. This is the publisher’s third quarter in its fiscal year. Revenue increase 23 percent to €802 million, from €652 million for the same quarter a year ago.

Assassin’s Creed III set a franchise record with more than 12 million units sold at retail and digitally. This is a 70 percent increase over what Assassin’s Creed Revelations sold during its first Holiday. Far Cry 3 also sold more than 4.5 million units.

For the first nine months of its fiscal year, Ubisoft sales have surpassed €1 billion, at €1.08 billion. This is a 20 percent increase year-over-year. Sales one year ago were €900. The fiscal year started on April 1, 2012 and ends on March 31, 2013.

Sales grew a massive 143 percent to €55.2 million for the Online segment. DLC sales increased four fold over the course of the nine month period. Rayman Jungle Run and Trials Evolution both continue to show strong sales.

The only negative came from the Casual segment. Just Dance 4 sold well for the Wii and Kinect with eight million units sold. However, this is a 16 percent drop when compared to Just Dance 3.

“Our performance fully validates our long-term choices and the large-scale investments we have been undertaking for several years now, with a sharp ramp-up in games for core gamers and notably our strong comeback into the major segment of shooter games,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.

“Assassin’s Creed 3 has reported record-breaking sales of over 12 million units and year after year is marking its position as one of the industry’s major franchises,” Guillemot continued. “We have also reestablished Far Cry as one of the major pillars of our offering for core gamers, with Far Cry 3 the highest rated shooter of 2012 for Xbox 360 and winning the Gamespot People’s Choice Game of the Year award.”

For the full fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2013, Ubisoft has raised its forecast. Ubisoft originally expected sales to be between €1,200 million to €1,260 million, and now expects sales to be between €1,240 million to € 1,260 million.

Assassin’s Creed 4 in 2013?

Supposed survey gauges interest in potential features for upcoming new game in Ubisoft series, including co-op.

The next entry in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series could include co-op play and be on store shelves as early as next year. The Gaming Liberty has obtained a survey reportedly stemming from Ubisoft that gauges fan interest in a range of new features and ideas for the series.

The survey reportedly asks a series of questions covering players’ thoughts on Assassin’s Creed III, including their enjoyment or dissatisfaction with its gameplay, combat, and story. Additionally, the survey asks what players might enjoy from a future Assassin’s Creed installment, such as whether or not they would like to see a future game feature Desmond or Connor.

Additionally, one question is squarely focused on co-op. It asks if players would enjoy “the possibility for a friend to join the game in order to help” with missions, puzzles, and other endeavors. Though the Assassin’s Creed franchise has introduced multiplayer, no game in the series has yet featured co-op.

Lastly, the questionnaire asks how likely respondents would be to purchase the next Assassin’s Creed game if it was released next year.

A Ubisoft representative was not immediately available for comment.

Assassin’s Creed III launched in October and sold 3.5 million units during its first week, up 100 percent over comparable sales of last year’s game, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. For more, check out GameSpot’s review of Assassin’s Creed III.

GameStop: Sandy ‘had no impact’ on Assassin’s Creed III launch

President Tony Bartel says megastorm’s wrath only minimally affected sales, despite hundreds of stores being closed entirely for more than a day; six shops remain closed.

Hurricane Sandy slammed the United States’ East Coast the week that Assassin’s Creed III launched in late October, knocking “hundreds” of GameStop stores out of power. However, this, as well as GameStop’s cancellation of all midnight launch events in the region, did not hurt initial launch sales, the company said today.

“Clearly, having a major storm hit on the launch date of one of your largest titles is not what we would have predicted,” GameStop president Tony Bartel said today in a postearnings financial call. “However, we had heroic efforts on the parts of our associates.”

Bartel added that GameStop was able to open some stores again the very next morning, and in some cases before its competitors. As a result, GameStop was able to “minimize the loss significantly,” and in fact, the game broke initial launch sales records at the retailer, he said.

The executive added that the majority of GameStop locations in the affected areas were brought back online within two days. Currently, just six GameStop establishments remain closed.

“To a certain extent, we really mitigated what could have been a very disastrous event. And it really had no impact on our sales,” Bartel said.

First-week sales of Assassin’s Creed III hit 3.5 million, rising 100 percent over comparable sales of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations in 2011.

Ubisoft Confirms Assassin’s Creed Anthology

Earlier this week rumors surfaced of an Assassin’s Creed set containing all five main games in the series. Today, Ubisoft confirmed those rumors — The Assassin’s Creed Anthology is official, and will contain Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and the recently released Assassin’s Creed III

If that doesn’t seem like enough assassinating, Ubisoft is also including every piece of DLC and extra content released for Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. It’s unknown how Assassin’s Creed III‘s as of yet unreleased DLC will be incorporated, though its safe to speculate that the set will include the season pass for all future DLC.

No release date has been confirmed, though Ubisoft is set to give more details later this week. No pricing has been confirmed either, though it is listed on Amazon France for 150 Euros, which converts to about $200 in American dollars.

Assassin’s Creed Anthology includes five console games

In addition to every main entry in series, upcoming megapack will feature all single-player and multiplayer DLC, according to retailer; full announcement this week.

Ubisoft will release an Assassin’s Creed Anthology megapack later this year that includes all five console titles, as well as a heap of downloadable content. The Amazon France listing has been confirmed by a Ubisoft representative to Polygon. A full announcement will be made later this week.

The Amazon France listing indicates the Assassin’s Creed Anthology will launch November 29 for €150, or about $192. The bundle is to include the original Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and Assassin’s Creed III.

In addition to the games, the bundle will reportedly include all single-player and multiplayer DLC for each game. This spans maps, missions, weapons, and more. Further, the bundle will include five themed lithographs related to each game.

The Assassin’s Creed Anthology will not be the only Assassin’s Creed bundle available at retail this holiday season. The PlayStation 3-exclusive Assassin’s Creed Ezio Trilogy arrives next week for $40 and includes Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

Pre-Order for Crysis 3 Gets You Crysis 1 for Free

EA revealed today that those who pre-order Crysis 3 will receive a free digital copy of the original Crysis for either the PS3, Xbox 360 or PC platforms. Other pre-order bonuses include the Predator bow and the Hunter Nanosuit, as well as an exclusive shotgun and submachine gun.

CRYSIS

This free game bonus follows a rising trend in gaming — last year, purchasing Batman: Arkham City and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations earned you Batman: Arkham Asylum and the first Assassin’s Creedrespectively. I think it offers a great incentive and would love to see more of this in an industry mostly dominated by sequels.

Crysis 3 launches February 2013 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Assassin’s Creed III breaks Ubisoft’s preorder records

Upcoming action title is French publisher’s most preordered game ever, doubling reservation rates of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

Assassin’s Creed III ships next week with lofty expectations, but it is already breaking records. Ubisoft announced today that the new stealth-action game is the company’s most preordered game in its history, surpassing previous record holder Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

What may have contributed to the uptick in reservations is that Assassin’s Creed III will be available on four platforms (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U), whereas Revelations shipped for three (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC).

Ubisoft also updated life-to-date sales for the Assassin’s Creed series today. The franchise has now sold over 40 million copies worldwide, the company said, though no specificity was provided as to how those sales are distributed among the numerous games in the series.

Assassin’s Creed III is due out for Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 30. A Wii U release is slated for November 18 day-and-date with the system and a PC launch will round out the bunch on November 20. For more on Assassin’s Creed III, check out GameSpot’s previous coverage.
